One of the foremost authorities on industrial automation, Nic Gihl also understands what it takes to both successfully build a start-up and grow a multi-industrial global company.
Currently a Board Member of Japanese touchscreen maker DMC and a product/channel strategy consultant to senior executives through his company G&N Automation, Mr. Gihl is a recognized expert on a wide range of products and markets ranging from process and machine control to displays, robotics and safety products.
Previously Mr. Gihl was tapped by Schneider Electric (Square D) to turn around its Industrial Automation and Control division in the US. He led an intense realignment to grow the company’s automation business by strengthening its ability to design end-to-end manufacturing systems and was credited with crafting forward thinking strategies leading to dramatic operational improvements.
As president of Pro-face America, a subsidiary of Digital Electronics Corporation, Mr. Gihl successfully acquired several companies which were sold in conjunction with Digital Electronics of Japan to Schneider Electric.
Mr. Gihl also co-founded and was the President of Total Control Products Inc., an industrial operator interface company. He grew the business through a series of acquisitions and executed a successful IPO before selling the company to GE Fanuc in 1999.
Mr. Gihl is a graduate of Purdue University with a B.S. in Electrical Engineering.
