Based in London, Mr. Laurie Todd is an expert in international finance, complex pension plan issues and corporate management. Mr. Todd is widely recognized for his strong track record guiding a diverse range of companies as CFO, Board Member and Chief Executive Officer.
Mr. Todd began his illustrious career as an associate and accountant with RSM Robson Rhodes in London (now, Grant Thornton) and Price Waterhouse & Co. in Paris. He proceeded to earn accolades as an analyst at the venture capital division of UK Government’s National Enterprise Board and moved on through a series of successful restructurings and turnarounds as a Finance Director for several private as well as public companies.
As the Chief Executive of Staveley Industries Plc., a multi-industrial holding company with operations in the UK and North America, Mr. Todd orchestrated a very successful turnaround from substantial losses, growing a diverse base of businesses that included facilities management, fire protection, mechanical and electrical contracting, non-destructive instruments, and testing services ranging from Nondestructive Testing (NDT) and Nondestructive Evaluation (NDE) to fluids analysis and calibration.
Mr. Todd is currently the Chief Financial Officer of Guinness Peat Group Plc. (GPG), a £1 billion international investment holding company listed on the London (LSE), Australia (ASX) and New Zealand (NZX) stock exchanges. In his capacity, Mr. Todd is responsible for global finance, legal, tax and administration functions of one of the most active European institutional investors, and one, who is uniquely proactive in the management, financing and restructuring of its portfolio acquisitions. GPG’s successful track record spans investments in sectors covering manufacturing, financial services, textiles, building services, property development, food processing, beverages and distribution.
Mr. Todd is a Fellow of the Institutes of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales. He is also a director of Newbury Racecourse Plc. and Chairman of Coats Pension Plan (£1.4 billion assets). Additionally Mr. Todd is a Director of Mencap Trust Company Limited – a UK disability charitable trust.
Mr. Todd received his BA from Oxford University’s Keble College and completed advanced studies at the London Business School.
